Breathing is life. Let us promise to keep our surroundings free from toxins. Let us together " close the gaps in asthma care"

Be aware about Asthma and its causes.

Once you learn, educate others. This World Asthma Day spread awareness and not charcoal smoke. Choose incense which is pleasant to your nose as well as your lungs. Every breath is a gift. And gifts should be wrapped in flowers, not dust.

World Asthma Day is an annual awareness event supported by Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) and US based National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLB), and also the World Asthma Foundation. As per the World Health Organisation (WHO), about one person among 15 people in the world are suffering from asthma. These include patients from every age group.

Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Asthma can be controlled by taking medicine and avoiding the triggers that can cause an attack.

The aim of the day is raising awareness of asthma and how it affects sufferers. The day falls on the first Tuesday in May each year and aims to raise support for sufferers and their families.

Every individual diagnosed with asthma needs to undergo medical treatment as well as physiotherapy for better recovery and to reduce the symptoms caused due to asthma. Pulmonary Rehabilitation helps you to breath better, reduces chest tightness & shortness of breath, improves strength of muscles and helps you to do daily activities more effeciently.

WORLD ASTHMA DAY

An estimated 300 million people worldwide have asthma, of which more than 35 million are in India alone.

👉🏻Asthma is a chronic lung condition characterised by difficulty in breathing- especially when having an asthmatic attack.

👉🏻Prevalence of Asthma has increased over the last few decades and will continue to rise.

👉🏻Asthma attacks tend to be caused by allergens and pollutants, animal dander, particulate matter, smoke, pollen, and changes in ozone levels.

👉🏻Respiratory health is particularly affected by climate change, which contributes to development of allergic respiratory diseases (Asthma).

👉🏻Pollutant exposure can alter mucus production, damage the airway lining, impair muco-ciliary clearance and trigger hyper reactivity.

GENERAL PREVENTION

*Some ways to prevent an asthma attack when outdoors* -

⚡️Continue the oral and inhaled medication as prescribed by a qualified doctor.
