Elon Musk clinched a deal to buy Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) for $44 billion cash on Monday in a transaction that will shift control of the social media platform populated by millions of users and global leaders to the world's richest person. The move comes as Twitter faces growing pressure from politicians and regulators over the content that appears on its platform. It has drawn critics from left and right over its efforts to mediate misinformation on the platform. In one of its most high-profile moves, last year it banned former US President Donald Trump, perhaps its most powerful user, citing the risk of "incitement of violence". At the time Mr Musk observed: "A lot of people are going to be super unhappy with West Coast high tech as the de facto arbiter of fr

New Army Chief of India: The First Officer from the Corps of Engineers

Image
Greetings from  || Expert Talks || Vice Chief Lieutenant General Manoj Pande appointed as the next chief of the Indian Army. He will assume office on May 1. He is the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to become the Chief.  This is so important for the military modernization. He could raise that serious debate, placing military tech at the core of Army. Armed Forces are experienced and well versed with the battlefield demands on military technology. But approach is tardy at best. At the outset military science and technology is not a unitary subject. Any weapon system is the complex mix of multiple sciences and technologies. Where to focus: a modern missile, aircraft or spacecraft has high end technologies related to materials, electronics, sensors, structures, design, propulsion, control, guidance, navigation, communication, warheads and more. All are the integration of applied core sciences to integrate disparate technologies into a weapon system. Army is poised to look into s

Greetings from  Expert Talks  Stick in hand, the Mahatma walked every day of his life... A habit that kept his deceptively frail-looking body strong & hardy..... For most of his adult life, Gandhi weighed around 100 pounds. He was 5’5” tall and his black-and-white photographs give an impression of frailty.  But nothing could be further from the truth. All his life, he kept a gruelling schedule. He travelled incessantly, criss-crossing the country on train and foot.  He met and corresponded with a bewildering number of people. He edited, published and wrote regularly for journals such as Young India, Navjivan, Harijan. All this apart from leading countrywide mass movements against the British, surviving severe fasts and being sentenced to jail no less than 10 times. None of this would have been possible without enviable reserves of endurance. That spare, thin body in its simple loin cloth, was strong and hardy.  French writer and Nobel winner, Romain Rolland, wrote of him: “This lit

Introduction, Theory, and Practicals of BODMAS

Image
Greetings from  Expert Talks   BODMAS * BODMAS rule is an acronym that is used to remember the order of operations to be followed while solving expressions in mathematics. It stands for B - Brackets, O - Order of powers or roots, D - Division, M - Multiplication A - Addition, and S - Subtraction. It means that expressions having multiple operators need to be simplified from left to right in this order only. First, we solve brackets, then powers or roots, then division or multiplication (whichever comes first from the left side of the expression), and then finally, subtraction or addition, whichever comes on the left side. * In this lesson, we will be learning about the BODMAS rule which helps to solve arithmetic expressions, containing many operations, like, addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (×), division (÷), and brackets  * If you are given any such equation which is made up of more than 1 operation.  So to solve that you have to follow the rule of BODMAS  Eg – 2+4×3-2=12
